My Story – Why I Created FinAvenue

Hi, I’m John, the person behind FinAvenue.

My financial journey started when I picked up Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki. It completely shifted the way I thought about money and wealth creation. But life threw me some tough lessons early on (in 2008) I lost my entire investment portfolio when the company I had invested in was liquidated. To make matters worse, I was made redundant from my full-time job soon after.

Those moments forced me to rethink everything. I realised that simply playing the stock market or property game wasn’t a guaranteed way to build wealth. It was just one avenue to get there. What I really wanted wasn’t to be “rich”.... it was to be comfortable, secure, and free to live life on my own terms.

Working in stockbroking taught me something else: trust is everything. Over time, I saw how profits were often prioritised over people, and how investors were left feeling burned. I knew there had to be a better way! a way that helped everyday people grow their wealth sustainably and understand the risks along the way.

Money isn’t your friend - it’s a tool. And like any tool, it needs a blueprint, a plan, and discipline to be used well. Over the past decade, I’ve played the money markets, studied growth mindset principles, and experimented with different financial products. Friends and family often ask me what to do with their savings, whether to buy speculative stocks, or where the dollar is headed. These conversations fuelled my passion for creating something bigger than myself.

That’s how FinAvenue was born - a space where money isn’t just about chasing quick wins, but about building a future. Where we create not just wealth, but multiple income streams, new skills, and a sense of purpose.

I built this site myself, learning LLM, SEO, CMS and design along the way because I wanted it to reflect what I believe: wealth building should be accessible, practical, and personal. I’ve had the opportunity to see Wall Street New York Financial District, and see how their finance hubs operate. Sydney is different.... but it’s full of opportunity if you know how to use it.

FinAvenue exists to help you map out your own path... not just to grow money, but to grow confidence, knowledge, and freedom.

Anyways,

I hope we can meet and learn

Take care

Ciao

John
